HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME AFTER TREATMENT?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your provider’s office. Talk to your provider about what to expect after treatment.

DO I NEED TO BE OVER 40 TO START?

Age does not dictate when you can start Xeomin. When you start to notice lines (frown lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet), speak with your provider to determine if Xeomin is right for you. Xeomin is indicated for upper facial lines in adults, when you start your treatment journey is entirely up to you and your provider.

WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet in adults. Xeomin® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

WHAT IS SMARTTOX?

Xeomin is a smart toxin with a double-filtered formula that removes unnecessary ingredients. It’s designed to reduce the risk of treatment resistance (when you end up needing more units overtime to get the same results) and delivers consistent results.*

HOW DOES XEOMIN® WORK?

When you make certain facial expressions, the muscles in your face contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent lines. IncobotulinumtoxinA – the active ingredient in Xeomin – acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin can temporarily reduce visible frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.

IS XEOMIN® FDA APPROVED?

Xeomin received FDA approval for use in frown lines in 2011, and received FDA approval in 2024 for treating upper facial lines, which includes frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY DOCTOR BEFORE TREATMENT?

Before receiving treatment with Xeomin®, you should tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including whether you have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, have allergies to any botulinum toxin product, or have experienced any side effect from any other botulinum toxin in the past. In addition, tell your doctor about your medical history and all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in the past. Be sure your doctor knows exactly which product(s) you received and when you received them.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?

During treatment, your provider will inject Xeomin into the muscles where your results are desired (frown lines, forehead lines and/or crow’s feet). Most treatments take about 15-20 minutes. Remember to talk to your health care provider if you have any questions or concerns! Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your provider’s office.

HOW DO I KNOW IF XEOMIN® IS RIGHT FOR ME?

If you are an adult with moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet, Xeomin® may be right for you. Talk to your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment. Do not use Xeomin® if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in Xeomin®. You should also not use Xeomin® if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

CAN I GET TREATED FOR MULTIPLE AREAS AT THE SAME TIME?

You can treat your frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet all in one appointment! Talk to your provider to discuss what is best for you.

HOW IS XEOMIN DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TOXINS?

Other toxin formulations have unnecessary ingredients that may cause treatment resistance (when you end up needing more units over time to get the same results). Xeomin is the first and only double-filtered upper facial lines treatment with no unnecessary ingredients, meaning it only has the ingredients needed to treat your frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet!*

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE THE RESULTS?

You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may vary from patient to patient.

HOW MANY UNITS CAN/SHOULD I RECEIVE?

The total recommended Xeomin dose for treatment is 20 units for frown lines, 20 units for forehead lines and 24 units for the crow’s feet for a total of 64 units. Talk with your provider to see what is right for you!

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS OF XEOMIN®?

Xeomin® may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Xeomin® may include: itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Tell your doctor or seek medical help right away if you have wheezing, experience other asthma symptoms, or if you become dizzy or faint. In clinical trials of Xeomin® for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows, headache was the most common side effect. Xeomin® may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks of taking Xeomin®. If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities. Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not subside. These are not all of the possible side effects of Xeomin®. For more information, see Full Prescribing Information including Medication Guide, or ask your doctor.

Warnings: XEOMIN may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening. Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of these problems anytime (hours to weeks) after treatment with XEOMIN:

  • Problems with swallowing, speaking, or breathing can happen within hours to weeks after an injection of XEOMIN if the muscles that you use to breathe and swallow become weak. Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with XEOMIN.
    • People with certain breathing problems may need to use muscles in their neck to help them breathe and may be at greater risk for serious breathing problems with XEOMIN.
